Linda Thorson

Linda was born in Toronto and trained at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. During her career to date, she has successfully divided her time between both sides of the Atlantic.

She is very well known in the UK as Tara King in the cult TV series The Avengers opposite Patrick Macnee for which she was awarded an honorary BAFTA in 2000. More recently, she has been on our screens starring as Rosemary Sinclair in the long running TV series Emmerdale.

Linda’s recent theatre credits include Lady Elizabeth Eastalake in The Countess with Nick Moran and Jean Boht at the Criterion Theatre as well as appearing as the surprise guest in the recent UK tour of the hugely successful comedy The Play What I Wrote. Other recent credits include a West End run as Mrs Culver in Ed Hall’s acclaimed production of Somerset Maugham’s The Constant Wife, Catherine Wilkins in Final Judgement at the Theatre Royal Windsor (directed by Val May), the British Premiere of the Stephen Sondheim review Putting It Together at the Chichester Festival Theatre and Flora Humble in the Canadian premiere of Humble Boy by Charlotte Jones at the Manitoba Theater Centre.

Other theatre credits include the original West End cast of No Sex Please, We’re British and five productions on Broadway: Noises Off (Drama Desk Award) and the musical City Of Angels (both directed by Michael Blakemore), Nell Dunn’s Steaming (Theater World Award), the US premiere of Bulgakov’s Apartment and Getting Married. In Los Angeles, she starred in Money and Friends at the Doolittle Theatre, again for Michael Blakemore. Regional theatre in the US includes the West Coast premiere of David Hare’s Amy’s View, The Play’s the Thing, The Beaux Stratagem, Under Milk Wood, the national tour of The Sister’s Rosensweig and the world premiere of The Subject Tonight by Sandra Deer. Linda also played the title role in the US tour of Willy Russell’s Shirley Valentine.

Her many TV appearances include Gul Ocett in Star Trek – The Next Generation, Martha Taylor in Law and Order, series regular Julia Medina in the long running One Life to Live and Hilary Stonehill in the NBC series Marblehead Manor with Paxton Whitehead and Michael Richards. Linda has also played featured roles in many long running series including The Equalizer, The Return of the Saint, Moonlighting, St Elsewhere and Dynasty.

Linda’s film credits include Touch of Pink (Sundance 2004 Top 10), Jane Macpherson in Half Past Dead with Stephen Seagal (directed by Don Michael Paul), Maria in Straight in to Darkness (directed by Jeff Burr), Drew in The Other Sister with Diane Keaton (directed by Garry Marshall, Grace James in Sweet Liberty (directed by Alan Alda), Billie Streeter in Valentino (directed by Ken Russell), Angela in The Greek Tycoon (directed by J Lee Thompson), Andrea/Flanagan in Walls of Glass (directed by Scott D Goldstein) Anna in Les Palmiers du Metropolitain (directed by Youri), Principal O’Neill in Joey (directed by Joseph Ellison) and Brooke Parsons in Curtains (directed by Richard Crupka).
