Sarah Bird started her career in BBC Radio and Television Drama.
Sarah instigated the BBC’s first in-house casting department. The innovative series South of the Border was her first project as Casting Director. Other successful projects followed before Sarah embarked on a varied freelance career, which includes many award-winning films both for Screen and Television. Film projects include Stormbreaker (director Geoff Sax), As You Like It (director Kenneth Branagh), Ladies in Lavender (director Charles Dance), Swimming Pool (director Francois Ozon) and WILDE (director Brian Gilbert). Sarah’s numerous television projects include Bonkers, The Chase, Messiah, The Best Man, Silent Witness, Ny-Lon, Madame Bovary, Pie In The Sky and Wycliffe. Sarah has also cast extensively for theatre including Art for the West End and tour, The Play What I Wrote, West End and tour, Calico by Michael Hastings for the West End, Heroes by Gerald Sibleyras, a new version of REBECCA by Frank McGuiness and a new stage production of The French Lieutenant’s Woman.
